It has been observed that deficiency of iron cause  iron chlorosis. It  begins  at the tips of new growth plant  and will eventually spreads to work its way to older leaves of the plant as the deficiency gets bad to worse.

Other signs are poor growth and leaf loss, but these symptoms will always occur simultaneously with the leaf chlorosis.

Remedy: Fixing Iron Chlorosis in Plants. It is very rare that an iron deficiency in plants caused by a lack of iron in the soil. Iron is typically abundant in the soil and is available by the plants.

It is reported that a variety of soil conditions can limit how well a plant can absorb iron in the soil.Iron deficiency can be remedied by selecting  appropriate soil for the growing.

Alternatively, by adding well-prepared organic  manure or compost. In case  iron deficit chlorosis is identified, then check the pH of the soil with test kit or instrument.

Condition the soil  that will lower the pH toward the 6.5 - 7 range. Remediation includes: adding compost fertiliser, adding manure, and peat or similar organic matter.

  • High levels of nitrogen, zinc, manganese and molybdenum in the soil can cause iron deficiency as well.
  • Iron is immobile in plants and therefore, deficiency symptoms appear first on the youngest leaves.
  • The most notable symptom of iron deficiency is chlorosis or yellowing between the veins of the youngest leaves.
