-unicellular algae like chlamydomonas, chlorella, volvox etc...were included in the kingdom plantae
-slime moulds with cell wall quite different from other protists were included in that kingdom
-the kingdom monera and protista include autotrophic and heterotrophic organisms , organisms with cell wall and organisms without cell wall are seen. So these kingdoms are heterogenous groups

Fungi are placed in a separate kingdom as their mode of nutrition differs . There is no place for viruses.
Better than two kingdom classification. Similar organisms are kept far from each other. For example- Unicellular and multicellular algae.
