In opened circuits electricity do not flows means the switch is at off position and closed circuit is when electricity flows means the switch is at on position.

Open circuit is a circuit in which the power supply is closed I.e switch is off.
Here flow of Electricity is stopped.
Closed circuit is a circuit in which the power supply is on I.e switch is kept on.
Here the flow of Electricity is allowed (Electricity flows through the circuit)
