Broilers are maintained for getting meat.
They are raised upto 6-7weeks in poultry farms and then sent to market for meat production.
They require conditions to grow fast and mortality.
layers are eggs -laying birds , managed for the purpose of getting eggs.
They require enough space and adequate lighting.
Layers start producing eggs at the age of 20weeks .So they are kept for layer period depending upon laying period (about 500days).
I hope this answer is right
