Outcrossing is a cross occurs between same breed of species. While cross breed occurs between different species.

Out-crossing and Cross-breeding both are the types of Out-breeding.

Followings are the differences between them.


Out-crossing:

•Mating of animals within the same breed but they should not have any common ancestors from 4-6 generations .

•It also helps to overcome inbreeding depression.

•Animals that are below average in productivity in milk production are mated by this method.


Cross-breeding

•Mating of animals from different breeds by selection of superior male and superior female.

•We can obtain desired qualities from two different breeds combined.

•Example- Hisardale (a breed of sheep)
