- Lymphocytes are white blood cells that are also one of the body's main types of immune cells. They are made in the bone marrow and found in the blood and lymph tissue.
- all lymphocytes are produced and made in the bone marrow ( soft tissue in the cavity of bones in our body).
Lymphocytes are categorized according to the location where they're modified
- If lymphocytes are developed and modified in the bone marrow itself, then they are known as B- lymphocytes.
- If lymphocytes are getting modified in the Thymus gland (endocrine gland situated in between the heart and sternum in thoracic cavity) are known as T- lymphocytes.
(T cells are involved in cell-mediated immunity, whereas B cells are primarily responsible for humoral immunity (relating to antibodies). The function of T cells and B cells is to recognize specific "non-self" antigens, during a process known as antigen presentation.)
