The main difference between these two groups is in the way in which they produce their microscopic spores. In the Basidiomycetes, the spores are produced externally, on the end of specialised cells called basidia. InAscomycetes, spores are produced internally, inside a sac called an ascus.

Similarities :both ascomycetes and basidiomycetes fall in the samr kingdom Fungi. Both are eukaryotic in nature. Also both have septate mycelium.

Differences :

Ascomycete: known as sac fungi, variously shaped ascocarp(fruit)

Ascomycetes reproduce both sexually and asexually.

Basidiomycetes :known as club fungi, umbrella shaped basidiocarp. Asexual reproduction and Asexual spores are absent. Only reproduce sexually..

Hope it helps ☺️
