What are the differences and similarities between RAM / ROM and Hard-drives?

RAM -Random Access Memory Is ur short term memory. The more you have, the more you can focus on without having to recall other data or memories.

Hard Drives are like long term memory. This holds everything, but it can slow to access all of the data.

ROM - Read Only Memory is like your DNA, it contains all of the base instructions and how tos that everything else works off of. It isn't completely Read Only it can be changed, but not in a normal or easy way. It involves accessing the BIOS which is a topic for another day.

The other difference is that RAM and ROM both require power to keep the data stored in them intact. That's called volatile memory. When you reboot your computer, the RAM loses what it was doing. When you pull the mini battery off of a motherboard, this clears the settings on your ROM. Hard drives, retain data regardless. That's nonvolatile.
