The difference in our films and Hollywood film as I see it is mainly of the content. Many times I find there content very universal like the movie 2012.
Secondly their stories are very original. They give high importance to their writers. They make films on variety of subjects. Right from science fiction to trivial college life whereas in India it is usually a trend. If a love story has become successful you will see a series of love stories realising one after the other.
But scenario is changing a little bit now. Now we see more different kind of cinema. Especially Mr. Amir Khan is very experimental and he has given some quality cinema in the last decade. Also new age writers and directors are also getting attention in bollywood these days which is a good sign. But I am still waiting to see a great science fiction or a psychopathic thriller or a good movie on political events or controversial political personalities from our side. Ofcourse making a political film will certainly face stiff opposition from political personalities and certain groups but our film makers ought to rise upto that challenge.
And ofcourse the other biggest difference is songs. Especially in these times you feel like songs are unnecessarily added to films. It feels like they are there not to take forward or expkain the story but with a commercial calculation that how much albums would sale or for how long this particular number would be played on discotheques and popular countdowns on tv.
