Broilers are the meat producers and layers are the egg producers in the poultry farm.
To prevent the occurrence of infectious diseases in poultry farms proper hygiene should be maintained and overcrowding should be avoided.
Explanation:
- In poultry farming, there are two types of fowls which are raised. One is called as Broilers and the other as Layers.
- Broilers are the poultry that are reared for obtaining chicken meat from them, while layers are meant for producing eggs.
- For broilers to be producing more meat they should be grown well. While layers are not concerned with meat but only egg production that's why they should be able to lay large sized eggs without growing much.
- For reaching good growth, the broilers are feed with vitamin rich food, and food that are rich with fat and protein. While layers are feed with food rich in vitamins, minerals and other micronutrients which will increase the egg laying process. They are also feed with the left over grains, etc which provides them fibres.
- But for both of them the prevention of infections diseases like Bird flu or Avian flu is necessary.
- For this, hygiene should be maintained in poultry houses, and overcrowding should be avoided.
