What are the differences between concave and convex lens?
Answers
LENSES :- A lens is a piece of transparent refracting material bounded by two surfaces which are usually spherical or one spherical and one plane.
TYPES :- Lenses are of two types, such as concave and convex lenses.
DIFFERENCES :-
(A) A convex lens is thicker in the middle and thinner at the edges whereas a concave lens is thinner in the middle and thicker at the edges.
(B) A convex lens is a converging lens whereas a concave lens is a diverging lens.
(C) A convex lens has a real focus whereas a concave lens has a virtual focus.
(D) A convex lens can form image which can real/virtual/enlarged/small/equal to the size of the Object. A concave lens always forms image which is virtual, erect and smaller than the size of the object.
(E) Convex lens is used for making spectacles to correct hypermetropia whereas concave lens is used for making spectacles for the correction of myopia.
Answer:
Below:-
Explanation:
A convex lens or converging lens focuses the light rays to a specific point whereas a concave lens or diverging lens diverges the light rays. ... Concave lenses and convex lenses are often used together known as Concave – Convex lens. When these lenses are combined they produce sharper images.
