what are the differences between Epidermis and bark?

Epidermis are living cells that are found in single layer . The bark of trees are cork which is a form of epidermis . The cuticle here is not present. When the plant becomes old these epidermis turn gradually to the cork cambium and then after rapid division they form cork.

Epidermis

  • An outermost single layer formed of cells on the surface of leaves, stem of a plant is known as epidermis.
  • Epidermis is a permeable structure.
  • It is formed of living cells.
  • It is a layer of protective cells that form a covering and it is soft in nature.
