Himalayan rivers are perennial and flow the throughout the year. A large number of peninsular rivers are seasonal and flow during a certain period in a year. They receive water from rainfall and melting snow of the mountains and glaciers.

Himalayan Rivers. On the other extreme, somepeninsular rivers like the Mahanadi, the Godavari, the Krishna and the Cauveri form deltas, while the Narmada and the Tapi form estuaries. While Himalayan rivers form meanders, there is an absence ofmeanders in case of Peninsular rivers
