The main difference is eccenctricity.other is definition.i.e. in ellipse sum of distance of all points in ellipse is constant from focus and in hyperbola the difference is constant .ok if u read system of equation then u should know for ellipse h^2

Eccentricity of ellipse is less than 1 while that of hyperbola is greater than one.
