1⏺️ Respiration is the process of oxidation of food materials like glucose, Amino acids, fatty acids to water and carbon dioxide.
2⏺️ Combustion is the process of burning sugar to form water and carbon dioxide which helps in the release of energy in the form of heat.
1⏺️ Respiration is the process where oxygen is taken in and carbon dioxide is exhaled out.
2⏺️ combustion means the burningof substances in the presence of oxygen.
1⏺️ it is a biological process
2⏺️ it is a chemical process

NCERT based Answer for Class 11 Biology Students

Respiration:

 Biochemical process.

 Under biological control.

 Energy is released in steps.

 Temperature is not allowed to rise.

 Most of the energy is trapped in ATP.

 Oxidation occurs at the end of reaction (terminal oxidation).

 A number of intermediates are formed.

Combustion:

 Chemical process.

 Uncontrolled process.

 Energy is released in a single step.

 Temperature becomes very high.

 ATP is not formed.

 Substrates is directly oxidised in combustion.

 No intermediates are formed.
