Aerobic respiration takes place in the mitochondria and requires oxygen and glucose, and produces carbon dioxide, water, and energy. ... This process requires oxygen and therefore following anaerobic respirationthere is oxygen debt in the cell, as oxygen is needed to break down the lactic acid produced.

Aerobic respiration:

1.the process of breakdown of food in the presence of oxygen is called aerobic respiration.

2.its end products are CO2 and H2O.

3it takes longer time to release energy .

4. It produces large amount of energy.

5.e.g. it occurs mostly in plant and animals.

Anaerobic respiration:

1.the process of breakdown of food in the absence of oxygen is called anaerobic respiration.

2. It's end products can be lactose acid or CO2 and alcohol.

3. It is fast process as compared to aerobic respiration.

4. It produces small amount of energy as compared to aerobic respiration.

5. e.g. it occurs in yeast, bacteria, human muscles etc.
