TRIBUTARY -
1. It is a river which flows into a large river.
2. It increases the volume of the main river.
3.It is generally found in the upper course of the river.
FOR EXAMPLE, Yamuna is the tributary of the Ganga.

DISTRIBUTARY-
1. It is a river which flows away from the main river.
2. It decreases the volume of the main river.
3. It is generally found in the lower course of the river.
FOR EXAMPLE,Hooghly is the DISTRIBUTARY of Ganga.
