The farming is the primary occupation in the Indian villages. The different crops grown in Indian villages during different seasons are :
1. Kharif Crops : These crops are sowed in June-July and are harvested in Octobar-November. These include rice, maize, sorghum, pearl millet/bajra, finger cereals, pulses, soyabean, cotton etc.
2. Rabi Crops : These crops are sowed in October and harvested in March. The rabi crops include wheat, barley, some pulses and cereals , linseed, mustard (oilseeds) etc.
3. Zayad Crops : These are short term crops, sown in March and harvested in June. These crops in India are Watermelon, Muskmelon, , bitter gourd, pumpkin, cucumber etc.
