  2. It is the synthesis of lipids such as phospholipids.
  3. It helps in the metabolism of carbohydrates.
  4. It also helps in the process of protein folding.
  5. It produces and secretes steroid hormones.
  6. It prouces calcium ions which helps in the muscular system and the nervous system.
