There are three types of heat zones on Earth:
a) Torrid zone :
This zone extends from the equator to 23 1/2 degrees north and south of it.It receives concentrated sun rays and has a high diurnal temperature range.
b)Temperate zone :
This zone extends from the tropic of Cancer to the Arctic Circle [north temperate zone] and from the tropic of Capricorn to the Antarctic Circle [south temperate zone]. It receives slightly slanting sun rays and the heat is spread over a comparatively larger area reducing the diurnal temperature.
c)Frigid zone :
This zone extends from the Arctic circle to the north pole and the antarctic circle to the south pole. The rays received here are almost horizontal and spread over a very large area reducing the heating by large amounts.
