Indicators Of a Chemical Change:-

There are five signs of a chemical change:

Color Change :

Sometimes when the composition of substances change, the colour changes as well. It must be noted that colour change is commonly observed in a physical reaction when two colours mix.

Production of an odor :

Decomposition reactions will commonly produce odours. Decomposition means that the beginning substance is breaking down into multiple different substances. An example of a decomposition reaction is the rotting of an egg.

Change of Temperature :

Heat is often produced in chemical reactions. Using a thermometer would be the most reliable way to determine changes in temperature. If the temperature increases as a result of the reaction, it is called an exothermic reaction.

Evolution of a gas (formation of bubbles) :

When bubbles form, there is a gas present. If a gas is formed in the reaction, there is commonly a temperature change as well.

Precipitate (formation of a solid) :

A precipitate is a solid substance that may form during certain chemical reactions.
