The different means by which infectious diseases spread are :-

Through air - The air carries bacteria and virus . The diseases caused by this are common cold , influenza , tuberculosis etc...

Through food & water - When one takes contaminated food or water that contains bacteria , virus , etc... it can cause diseases like cholera , typhoid and hepatitis .

Through contact - Many diseases spread by contact of infected person with the healthy person , like fungal infections , skin diseases , etc...

By sexual contact - Many diseases can be transmitted through sexual contact like syphilis , AIDS , etc...

Vectors - The organism that spreads a disease by carrying pathogens from one place to another is called vector . Eg ; mosquitoes are vectors that carry pathogens like protozoa .
