Explanation:

Following are the three main methods of transfer of heat:-

(1) Conduction:

This method is used to transfer heat among the solids mainly. in this method atoms of the matter when getting heated transfer it heats to the adjacent atoms. So, in the process of transferring heat by the method of conduction, direct contact of the substances are necessary.

(2) Convection:  

This method of heat transfer mainly takes place in liquids. In this method when we heat a liquid in the vessel the hot liquid from the base of the vessel moves up and the cold liquid moves down to get heated and in this way, whole liquid in the vessel gets heated.

(3) Radiation:

This type of heat transfer takes place without the need for any medium or direct contact. In this method heat can transfer by the electromagnetic wave. The transfer of heat from the sun to the earth is an example of a radiation method of heat transfer.
