What are the different methods to control air pollution?
Answers
1. Pollution Control Equipment:
Sometimes pollution control at source is not possible by preventing the emission of pollutants. Then it becomes necessary to install pollution control equipment to remove the gaseous pollutants from the main gas stream.
The pollutants are present in high concentration at the source and as their distance from the source increases they become diluted by diffusing with environmental air.
Pollution control equipment’s are generally classified into two types:
(a) Control devices for particulate contaminants.
(b) Control devices for gaseous contaminants.
2. The forest cover should be protected by restricting deforestation and through adoption of afforestation programmes. Trees are the best controllers of air pollution. It is an accepted fact that at least 33 per cent of the land area should remain under forest/tree cover. It will help in containing air pollution and also help in maintaining, the ecological balance.
3. The main source of air pollution is the automobiles; therefore, their engines should be redesigned in such a way that their emissions cause minimum pollution. Several steps have been taken and some technology has also been developed, but still it is in a very preliminary stage.
Answer:
1plant more trees
2 strict application of proper filters in the industry before releasing the vapour into air
3 educate people to dump their waste instead of burning them
4proper prevention measures to be taken before their mining operations
