There are two modes of nutrition:

Autotrophic – Plants exhibit autotrophic nutrition and are called as a primary producer. Plants synthesis their food by using light, carbon dioxide and water.

Heterotrophic – Both animals and human beings are called heterotrophs, as they depend on plants for their food.

Answer:

The are 2 modes of nutrition:-

(I) Autotropic Nutrition

(ii) Heterotropic Nutrition

Autotropic Nutrition:- Autotrophic nutrition means that simple inorganic substances are taken in and used to synthesise organic molecules. Energy is needed to achieve this. There are two types of autotrophs: photoautotrophs and chemoautotrophs. Photoautotrophs get their energy from sunlight and convert it into usable energy.

Heterotropic Nutrition:- Heterotrophic nutrition is a mode of nutrition where organisms directly or indirectly depend on autotrophs for food. They are called as Heterotrophs. They cannot prepare their own food. Protoctists and prokaryotes are examples of heterotrophic nutrition
