Each person pursuing their own, even the smallest one, activity faces the issue of accounting. However, different rules are applicable in different EU Member States. As the European Commission is planning to implement the common standards for financial auditors (persons carrying out checks and audits of financial statements), also in Poland training courses started with the aim of preparing specialists for work in accordance with the common guidelines. Within the framework of the project, not only auditors can hope on information and training courses. For economic operators (who also must be familiar with these rules), a series of conferences are organised, allowing them to gain knowledge and to exchange experiences. The experts have prepared studies allowing to analyse and understand the standards being introduced and their impact on the economic activity. In the course of the project implementation, also analyses and recommendations for are prepared in order to help introduce the necessary changes into legislation. However, providing access to knowledge about the international rules of reporting and auditing is just one of the elements of the project implemented. The other is to implement them in the widely understood environment of organisations and people dealing with this issue. Lifelong learning systems have been modified so as to include the new recommendations, support was also granted to the professional self-government and organisations of accountants. A special computer programme has been developed to help small and medium-sized auditing companies guarantee the high quality of audits of financial statements. Thanks to the project, many Polish auditors raise their qualifications which will guarantee not only the better quality of services they provided but will also allow them to actively participate in the international work for the creation of the common European accounting and auditing standards.
