On the basis of ownership resources can be classified into four types.

Resources on the basis of ownership are:

Individual Resources: Resources which are owned by private individuals are known as individual resources. For examples: house, car, book, etc.

Community Resources: Resources which are owned by all members of the community. For example: public parks, play ground, etc.

National Resources: All the resources which are under the control of state or union government. For example: all mineral resources, like water, land, forest and wild life.

International Resources: These are international institutions that control all areas which do not belong to any individual country. For example: area beyond the exclusive economic zone belong to the open ocean & no individual country can utilize this area without the permission of international institutions.
