These are transfer of pollen grain from the anther of one flower to the stigma of a genetically discontiguous flower. It is also called Xenogamy. Cross pollination occurs with the help of an external agents,
e. g.Wind, water, insects, birds, bats etc
- Anemophily :- in which pollination through winds, e.g. coconut, palm, maize etc.
- Hydrophily :- in which water is used as pollinating agent. e.g. zostera, vallisneria etc.
- Entomophily :- it takes place by pollinating agent as insects; e.g. Rafflesia, mimosa etc.
- Ornithophily :- it is performed by birds. e.g. Bombax, Bignornia, agave etc.
- Chiropterophily :- it is performed by bats.
