Calc is similar to Microsoft Excel, with almost the same abilities. Calc is capable of opening and saving spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel's file format. It provides a number of features not present in Excel, including a system which automatically defines a series for graphing based on the layout of the user's data. Calc is also capable of writing spreadsheets directly as PDF files

The different types of data that can be entered in calc are:

• Entering numbers: To enter in calc we use keyboard or numeric keypad. To enter a negative number, we use (-) minus symbol infront of a number. Numbers are right-aligned by default.
• Entering Text: Text is left-aligned by default.
• Entering numbers as text: If a number is entered is 01431, leading with 0. To preserve this in telephone area codes, type an apostrophe infront as '01431.
• Entering date and times: You can seperate date elements by slash (/) or hyphen (-). In time by using colons (:).
• Entering special characters: Click Insert->special character to open special character dialog.
