on the basis of their work they are of three types =1• sensory neurones
they are the following neurones which carry nerve impulses from the receptors to our CNS system which includes brain and spinal cord.
2•relay neurones
these neurones act as connectors in the brain itself they pass the nerve impulses from sensory neurones to motor neurones.
3•motor neurons
these neurones carry nerve impulses from brain or spinal cord to effectors such as muscles . Thus results in action .
we can also divide neurons on the basis of their presence .
these are :1•inhibitory neurons
2•exhibitory neurons

the neurons can also be divided on the basis of their shape: 1•bipolar neurons
2• unipolar neurons and
3•multipolar neurons

hope this might help you.
