Heya!!

The different types of soil in India are Alluvial soil, Black soil, Red soil, Laterite soil, Arid and Sandy soil, Peaty and Forest soil.

Alluvial soil- This is a rich and fertile soil formed by the depositional of rivers.

Black soil- This soil is found in and around lava plateaus. It is also known as regur or cotton soil.

Red soil- This soil is sandy and red in colour due to the presence of iron oxide.

Laterite soil- Laterite soil is formed due to intense leaching (when water washes out soil nutrients) in regions with heavy rainfall.

Arid and Sandy soil- This soil is found in dry regions. It has very low moisture and humus content.

Peaty and Forest soil- This soil is rich in humus as the organic matter that accumulates in the forests decomposes to provide the same.
