various process are:
1)The process in which food is broken down in the cells to release energy is known as cellular respiration.it has 2 types as below:
2) The process of breakdown of food (glucose) in the presence of oxygen is known as aerobic respiration. it takes place in all organisms.
3) Food (glucose) is also broken down in the absence of oxygen. This process is known as anaerobic respiration.it takes place only in yeast or in muscles of organisms, when there is insufficient supply of oxygen.

The different ways in which glucose can be oxidized to yield energy are:
Aerobic: In the presence of oxygen to give carbon dioxide and water.
Anaerobic: In the absence of oxygen. Can either produce lactic acid or alcohol by fermentation.
