Photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a process used by plants in which energy from sunlight is used to convert carbon dioxide and water into molecules needed for growth. These molecules include sugars, enzymes and chlorophyll. Light energy is absorbed by the green chemical chlorophyll.

1. To provide energy in the form of atp to all the growing parts of plant.
2. To supply nourishment to all the plant tissues for repair and replacement and for proper working
3. To store the excess food in storage organs of a plant like roots
4. To make the roots deep porous and strong to tap water
5. To provide turgidity to softer tissues
