Answer:
The different ways of increasing production on the same piece of land are:
- Multiple cropping, in which more than one crop is grown on a piece of land during the year.
- Using of modern farming machines like tractors and threshers.
- Using of high yielding variety (HYV) of seeds.
- Applying chemical fertilizers, pesticides and artificial manures.
- Setting up proper irrigation systems.
Some drawbacks:
- The machineries are expensive and poor farmers cannot afford to buy them.
- Chemical fertilisers and pesticides are harmful to our health. They pollute our drinking water sources.
- Fertilisers and pesticides kills micro-oganisms and other living species and upset the balance of nature. When carried by rain water and deposited in rivers, lakes and oceans they kill aquatic creatures.
