India is the largest democracy in the world with more than 1.3 billion people and almost 700 million voters. In such a huge place, there are hundreds if not thousands of parties which are based on race, religion, caste and creed. Hence, with so many parties fighting for power, it becomes difficult to actually share power and be truthful to your voters. E.g. if a Dalit party is fighting for the rights of Dalits, they cannot share power with a party which has never done anything for Dalits. Such sensitive topics make it difficult to share power. Also, many political parties are also based on personalities and families who want power to remain in their hands. In such cases, it again becomes difficult to share power with another family
