●If we consider specific characteristics, then each organism will be placed in a separate group and the entire objective of classification would not be achieved.
●Classification of animals is also important in comparing different organisms and judging their individual evolutionary significance. If only a single characteristic is considered, then this objective would not be achieved.

The common fundamental features of animals are used to further segregate animals into groups and sub-groups.
For example, two or three layers of embryonic is taken as reference to divide animals into two different categories named:
- Diploblastic
- Triploblastic
This classification is necessary for comparing animals and judging their individual evolutionary process.
Therefore, if we will not take into account the common fundamental features of animals, we will not be able to do further grouping and sub-grouping.
