What are the diffrence between people who grow food themselves and people who grow things to sell?

the main difference between people who grow food for themselves and people who grow things to sell is that the the people who grow food for themselves doesn't add value to market economy while the people who grow to sell add value to market economy.
Also, the people who grow food for themselves to sustain their family requirement of food.
