Dimensional Formula of Electric Charge

The dimensional formula of electric charge is given by,

[M0 L0 T1 I1]

Where,

  • M = Mass
  • I = Current
  • L = Length
  • T = Time

Derivation

Electric charge (Q) = current × time . . . . (1)

The dimensional formula of,

Current = [I1] . . . . (2)

Time = [T1] . . . . (3)

From equation (1), (2) and (3) we get,

Since, electric charge = current × time

Or, Q = [I1] × [T1] = [T1 I1]

Therefore, the electric charge is dimensionally represented as [M0 L0 T1 I1].

Acceleration is the change in velocity with respect to time, which can be represented as dv/dt. The factor d/dt represents the rate of change of something. here, s is the displacement in meters and t is the time in seconds. The dimensional formula of acceleration is LT-2.
