Answer:

dimension of a rectangle

length=one dimention (m m)

width=one dimention (m m)

let x mm is length

y mm is width

so,

2(x+y)=28

=> x+y=28/2=14

again , xy=40

we know,

(x-y)^2=(x+y)^2-4xy

=(14)^2-4.40

=196-160

=36

(x-y)=√36=6

x=6+y

putting this value in x+y=14

6+y+y=14

=> 2y=14-6

=> 2y=8

=> y=8/2=4

x=6+y=6+4=10

so, length=10mm and width =4mm
