What are the directions used in a map? What is teh way to identify th emap..I hav eto make a project on this so pleased give lengthy answers or a site review...thx

there are 8 directions used in the map- 4 major and 4 cardinal directions.if there are physical features like mountains, rivers, plains areshown then its a physical map.if boundries of different states and countries are shown its a political map. otherwise whatever shown.
