What is the caste system?
-The caste system is basically classifies people by their social status.
-The caste system can be dated all the way back to 1200 B.C.E
-There are 4 major classifications or varnas.
-( Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, and Shudra)
Advantages
1. One advantage was its ability to form close communities with people of the same class.
2.it allowed foreign peoples to find a place in the society
3.People who were higher in the caste system had the advantage of maintaing power

4. Foreign peoples could fit into society with ease.
5.was predominantly influenced by religion therefore provided stability in society.
6. Society was well organized because everybody knew their place and did their job.
Disadvantages
1. A mans status stands pre-determined and immutable irrespective of any talent he may show or wealth he might accumulate.
2.It gets in the way of national integration and nation-building.
3. The caste system got in the way of economic development of all sections of society.
