  1. They are strong, hard, flexible and water resistant i.e., why used to make rain coats, containers etc.
  2. They are insulators of heat and electricity i.e., why they are used to make plugs, switch, boards etc.
  3. They are corrosion free and chemical resistant i.e., why can be used to store chemical.
  4. They are durable.
  5. They are light weight.
  6. Some can be recycled, can be moulded and so can be used for a long time.

Disadvantages of Plastics:

  1. Non-Biodegradable, not friendly
  2. They are indigestible, so if consumed by mistake, it could be fatal and can cause death.
  3. They are unhygiene to store food. As thermoplastics can be remoulded and so they have chemicals on their surface which could cause food poisnous.
  4. On burning they produce poisonous gases and smoke.
