The following are the disadvantages of biosphere reserve:

• Biosphere reserves attract a lot of tourists who may in turn cause pollution and destruction of the ecosystems.

• Biosphere reserves are of no use to farmers. In fact, biosphere reserves take up a lot of land which otherwise can be used for farming and growing crops.
