Disadvantages of CAA:

• There are several disadvantages to the CAA Citizenship Amendment Act brought in by the current BJP government as it goes against the very basic structural constituent of our constitution that is “Secularism”.

• In this Amendment, the BJP government excludes Muslims and other minorities like Transgendered people and the Adivasi People.

• Therefore it is inherently discriminatory in nature, especially as it aims to drive minorities away and to acquire a majority Hindu vote bank.

• It has also resulted in various acts of violence against peaceful protests and has ensued mass state terror.
