1) They do not last forever and are eventually discarded. ( Note that even rechargeable battery slowly dies after long use . )

2) As batteries are made using corrosive and toxic materials like lead, arsenic, etc., if they are discarded improperly, they can cause diseases and pollution.

3) If a battery is overloaded or used carelessly, it might leak into the appliances and harm them. There are also overheating cases which might lead to explosion of battery.
