Answer:

Divisions of the eastern coastal plains :

The region can be divided into seven subdivisions: the Mahanadi delta in Orissa; southern Andhra Pradesh plain, Krishna delta and Godavari delta in Andhra Pradesh; and the Kanyakumari Coast, sandy littoral, Coromandel or Madras Coast in Tamil Nadu.

Divisions of the western coastal plains :

They stretch from Gujarat to Kerala and include Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka. They are divided into three sections. The northern part is known as the Konkan, which comprises Mumbai-Goa region. The central part is known as the Kanara, and the southern part is called the Malabar Coast.

Difference between eastern and western coastal plains :

1) Eastern Coastal Plain is fertile due to alluvial soil.

Except for the Southern Part i.e. Malabar Coast, the Western Coastal Plain is infertile for agricultural purposes.

2)Eastern Coastal plain is a level surface.

Western Coastal plain is intersected by mountain ridges.

3)Wide Deltas are formed by large rivers on the Eastern Coastal Plains .

No Deltas are formed in Western Coastal plains, by small rivers.
