It can't explain the stability of an atom. As per the model, the orbital revolution of electrons around the nucleus is not stable as the revolving electrons in orbits will undergo acceleration and emit energy. This will result in loss of energy of electrons and they will ultimately fall into the nucleus.

the model was like a solar system in which the nucleus was sun and all the electrons acted as the planets. Rutherford stated that electrons move around the nucleus in circular paths . but when an object performs circular motion , it constantly loses energy . if it was so then the electron would lose energy and collide with the nucleus. In this way the atom will be highly unstable. but it is not so. therefore Rutherford's atomic model is not correct.
