The high population growth of an economy has various effects such as :

  1. Scarcity of the resources - more population means more need for the limited resources.
  2. Scarcity of jobs - when there is high growth in the population but the industries are not growing at a substantial rate there will be a shortage of jobs and a rise in unemployment of the economy.
  3. Overcrowding - There will be overcrowding of the limited areas resulting in deforestation.
  4. Higher Crime Rates - With a larger population the crime will go up due to the scarcity of basic amenities for sustaining lives.
  5. Poor distribution of food - There will be the poor distribution of food which will result in illness and death of the people.
