Answer:

Fossil fuels have the following environmental effects:

Air pollution: Burning of fossil fuels release oxides and sulfides in the air and many other harmful gases like carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, etc. These cause various health problems and also lead to acid rain which further affects water and soil resources.

Thermal Power plant : Thermal power plants give out a lot of gases that are harmful to the environment, they also give out what is known as thermal pollution. Thermal pollution is the degradation of the local environment, in particular the localized waterways, that are changed by the discharge of waste water from the power plant.

Wind Energy : Wind turbines do not release emissions that can pollute the air or water (with rare exceptions), and they do not require water for cooling. Wind turbines may also reduce the amount of electricity generation from fossil fuels, which results in lower total air pollution and carbon dioxide emissions.
