Four Events of Respiration

1. Pulmonary Ventilation

(Breathing) Process of moving air into and out of the lungs to change and refresh gas in the lungs

Inspiration/Inhalation: flow of air into lungs

Expiration/Exhalation: flow of air leaving lungs

2. External Respiration

Process of exchanging gas (O2 and CO2) between blood and alveoli

3. Respiratory Gas Transport

Transport of CO2 and O2 to and from the lungs and tissues of the body by way of the cardiovascular system which uses blood as its transporting fluid

4. Internal Respiration

Gas exchanges made between blood and tissue cells

Answer:

Hey mate here's your answer

Explanation:

The two lungs are the primary organs of the respiratory system. Other components of the respiratory system conduct air to the lungs, such as the trachea (windpipe) which branches into smaller structures called bronchi.

1) The process of breathing (respiration) is divided into two distinct phases, inspiration (inhalation) and expiration (exhalation). During inspiration, the diaphragm contracts and pulls downward while the muscles between the ribs contract and pull upward. This increases the size of the thoracic cavity and decreases the pressure inside. As a result, air rushes in and fills the lungs.

2 ) During expiration, the diaphragm relaxes, and the volume of the thoracic cavity decreases, while the pressure within it increases. As a result, the lungs contract and air is forced out.
